Our latest work with Missing People charity hit the headlines last week and is still gaining traction – even Prime Minister Keir Starmer himself stepped in to offer support – and it’s not hard to see why.
A campaign amid “unprecedented true crime consumption,” the charity is holding a mirror up to the way we engage with stories of missing people as “content” to be theorised about, commented on and criticised – all whilst a real family at the centre of it, watches and reads on.
Missing People is dedicated to supporting every missing person and the families and loved ones left behind. Because these are not plotlines or episodes. They are real lives and real loss, never entertainment.
That’s why we worked with BBH London and production agency Merman creating a hard-hitting film, available to view on the Missing People website, where you’ll also find first-of-their-kind guidelines for content creators to follow when reporting on a missing person, created by our own social media team.
The coverage is still coming in, having been kicked off with four days of double page spreads in the Daily Mirror, a dedicated GMB bulletin, Channel5 News and ITV London segment.
There were also pieces across the key regionals like Manchester Evening News and Birmingham Live, alongside a host of trade titles. View the full film and learn how you can support the campaign here.
